MAE & certificate options

The Teacher Leadership program does not lead to teacher certification. See our Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program or Master of Arts in Education Teacher Licensure Program.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students who complete either the MAE or Certificate program will be able to:

  • Facilitate the collaborative analysis of classroom and school data to ensure that instructional practices and school structures are benefiting all students.
  • Employ outcome-based, culturally-responsive protocols and facilitation skills to help colleagues work collaboratively to refine instructional practice, make ethical and educational decisions, manage student and faculty conflict, and promote meaningful change in curriculum, instruction, assessment, school structures and culture that lead to improved teaching practices and increased student achievement.
  • Use knowledge of existing and emerging teaching and learning technologies to guide colleagues in helping students skillfully and appropriately navigate the Internet, using instructional technology to promote differentiated instruction, and connecting with people and educational resources around the world. 
  • Engage knowledge and understanding of different backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and languages to promote effective instructional strategies and successful interactions among colleagues, families and the larger community that lead to attaining equitable achievement for students of all backgrounds and circumstances.

Additional learning outcomes for MAE students

  • Incorporate specific strategies from national and international educational systems to ensure that instructional practices and school structures are benefiting all students.
  • Develop a significant research agenda, including the ability to generate research questions, utilize theoretical frameworks, critically analyze previous and proposed educational studies, develop appropriate research methods, and present research findings and implications in succinct fashion to colleagues and professional organizations.
