“Thank you” letters for scholarships 

“Thank you” letters are a requirement for accepting a Fort Lewis College scholarship.  
 
Receiving a well-written thank you letter from a scholarship recipient lets the donor know how much you appreciate their financial support. Your letter affirms the value and significance of their contributions and often encourages continuing gifts for future students. 

How to write a “Thank you” letter to the Graduate Scholarship Committee 

  • Address the letter to the Graduate Scholarship Committee.
  • Explain why the scholarship is important to you. Demonstrate how the scholarship matched and met your specific needs. 
  • Describe why you chose your degree program and how it applies to your personal and career goals. 
  • Include relevant information about your family, hometown, employment, and outside activity involvement. 
  • Check the spelling and grammar.
